Lao Niu Winter Olympic Carbon Sequestration Forest

       “Lao Niu Winter Olympic Carbon Sequestration Forest” is a project in which Lao Niu Foundation donates 74.38 million RMB and allies State Forestry Administration, China Green Carbon Foundation, Hebei Provincial Department of Forestry, and Zhangjiakou Bureau of Forestry, etc. to carry out high-standard afforestation and restore over 30,000 mu of barren hills in the surrounding areas of competition site in Chongli District and along the highways of Chicheng and Huailai Counties in Zhangjiakou, Hebei to support the “2022 Winter Olympics”, expecting to absorb approximately 380,000 tons of carbon dioxide fixedly in the next 30 years. It will bring multi-species and multi-layered forest landscapes to the Olympic Forest Park and around the racing track, playing an important role in accelerating the restoration of forest vegetation, protecting biodiversity, coping with climate change, and alleviating poverty in Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei area. From the perspective of promoting the collaborative development of economy and society as well as joint governance of ecological environment in Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei area, this project also has important demonstration significance, making a positive contribution to coping with global climate change.
